So something I read recently from another Charlie, Burkowski that is. Bluebird by Charles Bukowski from "The Last Night of Earth Poems" (1992) there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too tough for him,
I say, stay in there, I'm not going
to let anybody see
you.
there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I pour whiskey on him and inhale
cigarette smoke
and the whores and the bartenders
and the grocery clerks
never know that
he's
in there.
there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too tough for him,
I say,
stay down, do you want to mess
me up?
you want to screw up the
works?
you want to blow my book sales in
Europe?
there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too clever, I only let him out
at night sometimes
when everybody's asleep.
I say, I know that you're there,
so don't be
sad.
then I put him back,
but he's singing a little
in there, I haven't quite let him
die
and we sleep together like
that
with our
secret pact
and it's nice enough to
make a man
weep, but I don't
weep, do
you?

Here's the music video I completed for my very talented friend, Terry Matsuoka (featuring the lovely Candis).
The song is "You'd Be Surprised" from his new album "Totally Rad"
If you can't get the Vimeo vid to work, you can always check it out here on YouTube:
Make sure you click on "watch in high quality" below the volume widget so you can see it in higher res/quality.

Because I read this attempt at a short story....okay fanfiction. It's not what you think. It's not some gross slash fanfiction. It's just friggin' hilarious. The idea of someone writing fanfiction based on the video game Doom is pretty amusing to begin with, but then to read it. I mean, even if I tried, I don't think I could ever write like this. So click here to enjoy DOOM: Repercussions of Evil by Peter Chimaera Be sure to check out the reviews of this piece of fanfiction as well! This is one of the funniest book reviews I have read in quite some time. http://www.amazon.com/review/R1LPA5YOND6TGD/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm It makes you say, "Oh! So that's what editors are for!" Rockstep On One, Charlie

It's so sweet when one of these things goes viral and begins spawning its own mutated versions. This one is quite brilliant.

Sometimes the internet is just awesome. It can take a thing of hate, bile, and anger and transform it into something amusing and sublime.
